Hello there and welcome back to the Let's Grow There Podcast. We're continuing our series on the Holy Spirit in Isaiah chapter 11. Today we're talking about the spirit of understanding. It's going to be a great show. So thank you for joining me. And before I get started, I wanted to just recommend this book that I read this week. Took me, it's a very short book. It didn't take very long to read it. In fact, I read it in two sittings. And um it's it's an older book. It's by Derek Prince, and it's called The Holy Spirit in you. The Holy Spirit in you. And it's a really easy read. It's very simple. And I just really enjoyed reading it with since we've been talking about the Holy Spirit for the last like, I don't know, six weeks or so on the show. And um anyway, I just wanted to share that with you. Pass it on. It's a like I said, it's an easy read. And I think it just is a good um, it's just a good little book about the Holy Spirit and and everything. Just he says it in a nutshell, all the things that I've been trying to say, or a lot of things I've been trying to say over the last several weeks. So, anyway, it's a good book. Wanted to recommend that. I read it this week and I thoroughly enjoyed it. So there's that. All right, let's read through our scripture for this series um before we get started on today's topic. So Isaiah 11, 1 through 5 says uh this was prophesied. Uh sorry, Isaiah 11 1 through 5 is where it prophesies about Jesus uh being baptized when the Holy Spirit came upon him. And um, sorry, I'm laughing at myself because I read my notes completely wrong. Um, but anyway, so Isaiah 11, 1 through 5 it says, the um, I'm gonna read it from the Passion Translation today instead of doing both just to save time. The cutoff stump of Jesse will sprout and a fruitful branch will grow from his roots. The spirit of Yahweh will rest on him, the spirit of extraordinary wisdom, the spirit of perfect understanding, the spirit of wise strategy, the spirit of mighty power, the spirit of revelation, and the spirit of the fear of Yahweh. He will find his delight in living by the spirit of the fear of the Lord. He will neither judge by appearances nor make his decisions based on rumors. With righteousness he will uphold justice for the poor and defend the lowly of the earth. His words will be like a scepter of power that conquers the world, and with his breath he will slay the lawless one. Righteousness will be his warrior's sash and faithfulness his belt. So this, of course, is talking about Jesus. Um, and we we see that where this came to pass in um the New Testament, where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, and then John said that he saw the Holy Spirit descend upon him like a dove, and it rested upon him. So it is a direct fulfillment of this word prophesied many, many years earlier about Jesus in Isaiah 11. So the sevenfold spirit of God includes the spirit of the Lord or prophecy, which is the manifest presence of God, the spirit of wisdom or extraordinary wisdom, which we've been talking about for the last couple of weeks. I love that one so much, especially about the skillfulness and all the different things that people are empowered to do through the spirit of wisdom. And then today we're going to be talking about the spirit of understanding or perfect understanding. And then number four is the spirit of counsel or wise strategy, the spirit of might or mighty power, the spirit of knowledge or revelation, and the spirit of the fear of the Lord. All of these are so wonderful, so rich, and so wonderful. The more I the more I read into them, the more I study, the more I study about them, the more I talk about it, the more interested I am in it, the more intrigued I am by it because it's so much revelation, so much insight, and so much power to live by. You know, the power Holy Spirit comes to empower us. He comes upon us to empower us, just like he came upon Jesus and empowered him and anointed him to do the works of the ministry, the works that he was created to do, to do good, to heal, to deliver, to set free. All of the things that Jesus did, the Holy Spirit came upon him and empowered him to do. And the Holy Spirit does the same in our lives. He comes upon us and he empowers us to do the things that God created us to do, to do what we were born to do, and to do the same works that Jesus did, because Jesus said that you will do the same works that I do, and greater works than these you will also do. And we'll do that only by and through the power of the Holy Spirit and Him coming upon our lives and us partnering with Him, working with Him, following Him, seeking Him, knowing Him, communicating with Him, just doing life with Him, with the Holy Spirit. And the more I read about this, the more I get to know Him, the more I love Him, the more I want to know Him, and the more I want to please and honor Him and partner with Him, the less I want to do things on my own, the less I want to do things in my own strength. In fact, I don't want to do anything in my own strength. I have come to the point in life that if it's not, if if he's not in it, I don't want to be in it. If he is not right in the middle of it, guiding it, directing it in every part of it, I don't want to be in it. I don't want to be involved in it. And I'm finding that more and more I will even pull myself out of situations and places where there's there's uh there's a lack of the Holy Spirit being in charge and running things. And I don't, I don't want a part of that. I want to be free to follow the Holy Spirit, and I want to be led by Him. I want Him to be the Lord of my life. And the Bible says where the Spirit of the Lord is allowed to be Lord, there is freedom. And in that freedom and that liberty, there's just such a joy and a peace. And it's just the best thing in the world. It's the best place to be, the best way to live. The Bible says that the kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. And so to be in the Holy Ghost is everything to me. It's all that I want. So the more that I read this, the more that I talk about it, the more I share it with you, the more uh, the more in love with him I am. And that is just the only way to describe it. And I encourage you, if you can't say that you're in love with the Holy Spirit, just keep seeking him. Just keep looking into the word, listening to to things like this that talk about the Holy Spirit, listening to the Holy Spirit, seeking him in prayer, and just being hungry and thirsty for him. Because I promise you that if you will do that, you will come to know him so well. And to know him literally is to love him. And he will become so real to you and so real in your life that you can be able to say, like I'm saying today, I don't want to do anything without the Holy Spirit. If he's not in it, I don't want to do it. And, you know, that's I am just going off here on a different, different um way than I meant to start out. But that's okay because I feel like it's what I'm supposed to do right now. We will get to the spirit of understanding here in just a minute. But you know, uh sometimes people might hear that and they think, oh, well, I mean, that just sounds too spiritual and you sound, you know, religious or just too too spiritual. I mean, I live real life, you know, so do I. I live real life too every single day. In fact, here lately I've been doing a lot of just regular uh life things that like decorating and building uh, you know, I work at Christian Television Network, so I've been building a set lately, and it's been a lot of just physical labor. You know, I it was my vision, my, my um, I'm the one that kind of saw how it was going to be, and I'm the one that's in charge of setting it up. So when it's something like that, I just run with it and I like to do it pretty much all myself and and only accept help if I have to. So I've been doing a lot of of just manual things like sawing and and sanding and painting and and building. And then, you know, we finally got the set up and now I'm decorating it. And these are just natural things, and I'm also getting ready for a big meeting that's coming up, and that requires, you know, me to plan for meals for people and um, you know, transportation and different things like that. So it's just everyday normal life things, and I know that I'm anointed to do it because I'm right in the place that God has called me to be. And I was even just telling my husband this morning, I feel so anointed just to do all of the things I'm doing right now at um, and I was specifically talking about at my job, but you know, the things that I'm doing at my job, they're not like quote unquote ministry things at the moment. You know, they're they're leading up to that. They're getting ready to, you know, to do more programming and and filming and producing and stuff like that for television. But right now it's just everyday things. It's it's shopping, it's planning, it's purchasing, it's orders, it's building, it's decorating, it's you know, prepping for meetings and and different things like that. But even in those everyday things, the Holy Spirit is with me and he's doing it right alongside me. I feel his anointing and grace to just do those things. You know, another example that is just natural, quote unquote in the natural, is um if you're watching the video, obviously I got my haircut and I cut it all off. And that wasn't planned at all. It was just one day this week I was like, you know, I think since we're gonna start filming TV next week, I think that I should cut my hair. It'll be, it'll be better, it'll be new, it'll be fresh, and I'm gonna do it. So I'm like, yeah, but who knows if I can get in, you know, because it's last minute. So I uh I reached out to a hairdresser I wanted to go to, and I said, I know, you know, do you have anything available this week? And she goes, I have tomorrow at three. And I was like, Well, I can do tomorrow at three, that's perfect. So I went and um that night I was like, what am I gonna do to it? You know, I wasn't planning on cutting my hair, so what am I gonna do? And I looked at a few pictures on Pinterest and I was like, Oh, I like that, gonna go with that. And I showed my husband he liked it too. And so the next day I went, showed her the pictures, she cut it. There was no stress, there was no um, you know, with our hair can be pretty important, and we can, I don't know about y'all, but I will get sometimes pretty, pretty stressed out about how it's gonna turn out or or concerned if it was cut just right or how it's laying, or you know, all the different things. And I didn't. It was just like, let's do this, go ahead and make this call. Go or text, really, I didn't call, you know, check and see if you can do it. And and it just worked. And even in that, the Holy Spirit was leading me because he knew that I needed the change. He knew that I needed the, and I did. It it's made like even just the last two days since I got my hair cut, I feel, I feel fresh and I feel ready for a new season that I'm stepping into right now. And you know, that may seem like an unimportant thing to a lot of people, especially if there's any guys listening, but it's not because it makes a difference how you how you feel, and I'm not saying we live by our feelings, but how you feel about yourself, how you feel like when you're, you know, if you're if your hair is weighing you down, if it's if it's making you feel frumpy or or just blah, or you know, it was like it was just dry and it just needed some attention, whatever that that affects you. And so it was like when I when I got it cut and it was so fresh, I just felt like I was re-energized. I felt like I was just, you know, just a little shot in the arm, just a little extra boost, you know. And so the Holy Spirit knows those things. He knows how things affect us, he knows what makes us tick, he knows what makes us come alive. He knows, like for me, even creating. I love creating. So doing the set and planning that all out, yeah, there's some stress, and there was definitely a lot of work, a lot of back-affecting work over the last three weeks building that set. But you know, it's so fun because when I build, when I create, I am operating in that spirit of wisdom that I've been talking about on the show the last two weeks, that craftsmanship. And while I'm not building the tabernacle, I'm building a set, a Christian television network that is going to be used for the glory of God. And it's going to be used as a ministry outlet. So God equipped me to do that. The Holy Spirit helped me to do that, and it's something that I've been um enjoying, but I'm empowered to do it because the Holy Spirit empowers me. And that's the point that I wanted to make. The Holy Spirit empowers us, and that's why we're talking about all of this in Isaiah 11 right now, because I don't, I think a lot of us don't realize just how much the Holy Spirit wants to do in our lives, just how much he can do in our lives. I think a lot of times we don't see him as the person that he is. And even sometimes when we see him as a person, we just think that he's there just for us to pray to or to help us to pray to the father. Really, we're supposed to pray to the father, but we can talk to the Holy Spirit. Um, I don't get, I'm not gonna get all theological about that. I talk to the Father, I talk to the Son, and I talk to the Holy Spirit. And I don't know anywhere in the Bible that it says that you can't do that. So until somebody shows me that, I'm gonna keep doing it because that's just the way it is. There are three distinct people in in fact, and yet they're one, but they're three distinct people, and I I have a relationship with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And so um I think a lot of times that when people even realize that the Holy Spirit is a person, I think a lot of times they just think about him as a um, you know, like a priest almost, or like someone that they just go and talk to or that they hear from to get direction on spiritual matters or on major important life things. And I think a lot of times we forget or we don't realize or we don't have the revelation yet that he is not just there for just the spiritual matters, he's there for the everyday things, he's there for the calling. Everybody's not called to be in quote unquote ministry, in full-time ministry. We're all called to minister, we're all called to share the gospel, we're all called to fulfill the Great Commission, of course, but not everybody's called to be like a pastor, apostle, preacher, um, teacher, evangelist, or what's the other one? I can't remember. I don't remember which ones I said, but you know what I mean. Not everybody's called to full-time ministry or an office of ministry, but yet we all do minister, hopefully, to the people around us, to our families every single day. But lots of people are called to have a vocation, to have a job, to have a career, and God works in them through that career, or he works through them in that career. And a lot of times that career, it may be architecture, it may be, you know, teaching. That's a huge one. That one's very, that's obviously impactful in ministry. Um, but even like like I said, architecture, even things like that, even, you know, uh, you know, even all levels of jobs, you know, healthcare workers, even like I'm thinking trash collectors. I'm thankful for the trash collectors, right? That we would be in a lot of mess if it weren't for the the guys who came and picked up the trash every week, right? So in every single area, God empowers us to do what we do and to be a blessing and a minister there. And in every level, there the Holy Spirit is there, He's able and willing and ready to do life with us in every aspect of our lives, whether it's giving us the skills to do craftsmanship like carpentry or you know, whatever, or even, you know, oh my goodness, just every single sphere of of working. And the Holy Spirit is able to, willing to, and ready to empower us. That's what he's there for. So as Christians, we should be looking to him, working through his power, looking to him for that power, for that equipping, and partnering with him in every aspect of our lives. And as we do, you know, it's like I said, you feel so alive, you feel so blessed, so joyful, so peaceful, you feel so connected to your creator. And it makes it makes a huge difference in your quality of living, it makes a huge difference in your soundness of mind, in your peacefulness, and in in the outcome, even what you're able to do. I've I've found over the last several weeks while I've been doing this stuff that I've actually been able, I feel like my time has been multiplied. I feel like the Holy Spirit has literally multiplied my time several different times. I would be doing something that normally takes me a certain amount of time, just standard routine stuff. And I would think, okay, I'm probably took too long today. I better check the I better check the clock and hurry up and get out of here. And I'd look and I was actually like 20 to 30 minutes less time than I normally would take. And and I'm like, how is that possible? But the Holy Spirit, again, he's helping me. And he has the supernatural ability to, in a sense, in effect, slow up, uh, slow down or speed up time as it's needed. Now, I'm not saying the clock went slower or faster, I'm just saying he was able to help me do what I did, and it seemed like it took longer than normal. If I mean it seemed like I spent longer than normal on it because I was taking my time, but yet it took less time than normal. And he can do that in our lives. And it's wonderful, and I love it. And it's great to live in the supernatural empowerment of the Holy Spirit. So, with that in mind, let's get back to today's subject of talking about the spirit of understanding or perfect understanding. The passion footnote on this one says it could also be called the spirit of intelligent insight. I love that. It imparts the ability to discern the truth, so it's a lot about discernment, to know the meaning of riddles, and to decipher parables and allegories or dreams. It doesn't say that, but it talks, it's what it's referring to as well. This anointing was on the prophet Daniel, who we talked about last week, and um and then it says that you can look at Daniel 17, which we've read last week, 5, 11, and 12, and 9, 21 through 23. And those are areas where it's talking about Daniel having wisdom and understanding, and where he uh deciphers the handwriting on the wall, where he interprets dreams, and Daniel operated in such a high level of wisdom and understanding, both of these things, and it was pretty amazing. But since we talked about him last week, I'm not gonna spend time on him today, but we're gonna keep going on this. So it so that's all the the footnote from the Passion Translation, but I love that the spirit of intelligent insight. We have insight, and the word, I believe in Hebrew the word is I don't know if I'm saying this quite right, but I think it's been B I Y. Where is that at? Um I'm kind of getting ahead of myself. I think it's B-I-Y-N is how it's spelled. But I don't see it in my notes. I don't know where it went. I might have deleted it on accident when I was changing things around. Oh, here it is. B-I-Y-N. That's the root word of what um the Hebrew word is here for understanding. So um, man, I'm gonna get off. I'm gonna get off again here just for a second, because when I was um when I was looking at this this morning and putting it down, um the spirit of intelligent insight. There is a scripture in Proverbs that I love so much. I think I've probably talked about on here a couple of times, and I love to quote it just in in everyday life. Um, it says, I have wisdom or I have counsel, I have sound wisdom, I have insight, and I have strength. And of course, it's talking about wisdom, has that, I think it's called lady wisdom in Isa uh Proverbs 8, chapter 8. But I love to quote that for myself. I have counsel, I have sound wisdom, I have insight, and I have strength. And that insight, you know, sometimes that's the that's the extra edge that gives you the the, you know, that puts you over into success, into the winner's circle, so to speak. And, you know, when I was looking that up, that scripture, because I wanted to look at it in context this morning because I was adding it to my notes, and this whole passage in Proverbs 8 is talking about the excellence of wisdom, and it's wisdom talking. It's as if wisdom itself is talking. And I've told y'all before that I believe that this wisdom here in Proverbs is representative of the Holy Spirit. I know some people say um it represents Jesus, but I really feel like this represents the Holy Spirit based on what it says, and I'm just gonna read a little bit of it to you. Well, a lot of it probably. But Proverbs 8, I'm gonna start in verse 12. The whole chapter is about um the spirit of wisdom, really. And it doesn't call it the spirit of wisdom, but in light of what we've been reading, you're gonna see how well it fits. Listen to this. It says, I wisdom dwell with prudence and find out knowledge and discretion. The fear of the Lord is to hate evil, pride and arrogance in the evil way and the perverse mouth I hate. Counsel is mine, sound and Sound wisdom. I am understanding and I have strength. Remember what our list is here from Isaiah 11? What is it? The spirit of the Lord, the spirit of wisdom, the spirit of understanding, the spirit of counsel, the spirit of might or strength, right? Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. We just read about pretty much all of those things in those few verses. And that's why, that's one of the reasons why I feel like this is referring to the Holy Spirit. It's as if the Holy Spirit is the one speaking. And then it goes on to say, by me kings reign and rulers decree justice. And we we read that in Prov Isaiah 11 2, where it says that Jesus will give justice to the poor. By me, princes rule ennobles all the judges of the earth. I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me. Riches and honor are with me, enduring riches and righteousness. My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold, and my revenue than choice silver. I traverse the way of righteousness in the midst of the paths of justice, that I may cause those who love me to inherit wealth, that I may fill their treasuries. The Lord possessed me at the beginning of his way, before his works of old, I have been established from everlasting, from the beginning, before there was ever an earth, when there were no depths, I was brought forth, when there were no fountains abounding with water, before the mountains were settled, before the hills I was brought forth. While as yet he had not made the earth or the fields or the primal dust of the world, when he prepared the heavens, I was there. When he drew a circle on the face of the deep, when he established the clouds above, when he strengthened the fountains of the deep, when he assigned to the sea its limit, so the waters would not transgress his command, when he marked out the foundations of the earth, then I was beside him as a master craftsman. That's what we talked about last week, the Bezalel and Oholybal being master craftsman of the um with the spirit of wisdom on their lives. And I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him, rejoicing in his inhabited world, and my delight was with the sons of men. Wow. So I love that. And it's while it's not exactly the line uh line of talking that I was going to do today, it just it blesses me and it goes with this so much, and it tells you the benefits and the rewards that all of this that we've been talking about, the spirit of the Lord brings to your life. So many benefits, riches and honor, and blessing, and just joyful living, good fruit, all of those things is so so wonderful. So uh getting back to the spirit of understanding, uh, that verse there it says that I am understanding. The Holy Spirit is understanding, and that's the same word that's used here in um Isaiah 11 when it mentions the spirit of understanding. So let's look at some other scriptures in Proverbs. Actually, I'm just gonna read it from my notes here. Oh, I'm sorry. So this um spirit of understanding or intelligent insight um can also be interpreted as discernment. It's one of the discerning discernment is one of the aspects of it, one of the definitions of it, but it's it's more than just discernment, but it definitely is discernment. It's discerning um and it's like a separation, it like it indicates a separation or a distinction, like between good and evil, between good and bad, uh, you know, good and evil, whatever, and between right and wrong. And so it gives that just it's a discernment. It's like it shows a separation. You're able to tell the difference between what's right and what's wrong, what's good and what's bad, and even in subtle things. It's and that's part of what gives you the ability to make good judgments, to be a wise leader if you're a leader or a ruler. And we'll see that some more as we go on and look at some examples. So let's look at Proverbs 4, 5 through 9 in the amplified. It says, get skillful and godly wisdom, get understanding, discernment, comprehension, and interpretation. So that's the same word, and that's what it entails: discernment, comprehension, and interpretation. So the spirit of understanding is the spirit of discernment, spirit of comprehension, spirit of interpretation. You can put all of those words in there. So do not forget and do not turn back from the words of my mouth. Forsake not wisdom, and she will keep you. Defend and protect her. I'm sorry, defend and protect you. Love her and she will guard you. The beginning of wisdom is get wisdom, get skillful and godly wisdom. That's what we were talking about last week and the week before. For skillful and godly wisdom is the principal thing. And with all you have gotten, get understanding. Again, discernment, comprehension, and interpretation. Prize wisdom highly and exalt her, and she will exalt and promote you. She will bring you to honor when you embrace her. She will give to your head a wealth of gracefulness, a crown of beauty and glory she will deliver to you. So when we are operating in the spirit of understanding of the Holy Spirit brings into our lives, these are the benefits that we're gonna that we're gonna walk out. And that's what we that's just it's wonderful. So let's look at Job 32.8. I love this. So this says, but there is a vital force and a spirit of intelligence in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding. Well, listen. So we've been talking about the spirit of the Lord, right? And i I don't remember if I said this or not, but in Hebrew, the word um, the word for spirit is like see, I'm saying this wrong. The word for Holy Spirit is like breath. It's like it's like just breath. And you know, uh, when Jesus told the Holy the disciples to be filled with the Holy Spirit, he breathed on them. And so uh uh the definition of spirit is really breath. And this says that the breath of the Almighty gives understanding, the spirit of the Almighty, the Spirit of the Lord gives understanding, which is discernment, comprehension, and interpretation. I love that. Proverbs 2, 6, 6, Proverbs 2, 6 says, for the Lord gives wisdom, from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. Love the I love the visual there because your breath can come from your mouth. And when Jesus breathed on the whole on the disciples, he said, Be filled with the Holy Spirit. So from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 8 14, which I already read, counsel is mine, sound wisdom. I am understanding, I have strength. Now, in in 1 Chronicles 12 32, and I'll look that up and read it to you. This is an example of someone or someone's who really had this spirit on their lives and operated in it. First Chronicles. Okay, it says, of the sons of Issachar, who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, their chiefs were 200, and all their brethren were at their command. So this is just to put it in context, this is when David has finally come to the throne. Saul and his sons are dead. This is talking about all the people that were with David. This is before he was over all of Israel, he was just over part of the kingdom, and it's telling who all is with him, and it talks about the sons of Issachar, and I didn't write down the other part where it talks about the sons of Issachar. But the sons of Issachar were known for having understanding, for knowing what the times that they were in, for they had understanding of the times that they were living in, to know what Israel ought to do. That's the same spirit of understanding that was working in them that it's that is comes to us through the Holy Spirit that's available in our lives, through the Holy Spirit coming upon us. And that understanding made them able to be in the know. You know, like even today, there we're we're living in crazy times, right? And the people who know what is going on, who have understanding of the times that we're living in, we're about the kingdoms of God, we're about the king's business, we're about God's business. We are most concerned about that over anything else because we know that time is short. We know the times that we're living in, so we know what we need to do. And that's the way the sons of Issachar were, because they had the spirit of understanding on their lives and they lived that out. So that's one example. And then Solomon, who we talked about last week, Daniel, of course, we talked about. And Solomon, I love it. I think I read it to you last week where it says that he asked for an understanding heart that he might discern. So where it says discern there, that's the same word that's in Isaiah 11, that been word in Hebrew. And that's the spirit of understanding. That's what he asked God for, so that he would be able to discern between right and wrong and be able to lead God's people and take care of them. And we know Solomon was one of the wisest men on earth, one of the best leaders of Israel ever. So then Joseph told Pharaoh to find a discerning man in Genesis 41, 33. Let's look at that real quick. Joseph is another one that walked in wisdom and understanding, had discernment. And um, this spirit of understanding was on his life. He was able to discern, to comprehend, and to interpret. Of course, we know that that's how he got in. Um, we know he got into the palace because of interpreting dreams. So in Genesis 41, 33, it says, Now therefore, let Pharaoh select a discerning and wise man and set him over the land of Egypt. Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land to collect one fifth of the produce of the land of Egypt for seven plentiful years, and let them gather all the food of those good years that are coming, and store up grain under the authority of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities. Then that food shall be as a reserve for the land for the seven years of famine which shall be in the land of Egypt, that the land may not perish during the famine. So the advice was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants. And Pharaoh said to his servants, Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God? Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, Inasmuch as God has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you. You shall be over my house, and all my people shall be ruled according to your word. Only in regard to the to the throne will I be greater than you. And Pharaoh said to Joseph, See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt. Then Pharaoh took his signet ring off of his hand and put it on Joseph's hand, and he clothed him in garments of fine linen, and put a gold chain around his neck, and he had him ride in the second chariot which he had, and they care cried out before him, Bow the knee. So he set him over all the land of Egypt. Pharaoh also said to Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without your consent, no man may lift his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnath Penea, and he gave him as a wife Asanath, the daughter of Potipharah, priest of An. So Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt. Joseph was thirty-one years old when he stood before Pharaoh. Wow. He was only 31, and he was that wise and discerning because God had prepared him, because what it says in verse 38, he had the spirit of God in him. And I wanted to note that Zaphnath Paneah means discerner of the hidden. So even the name that Pharaoh gave to Joseph meant discerner. And that's what that the spirit of the Lord was operating in Joseph's life with the spirit of understanding, discernment, comprehension, and interpretation.

I wanted to write something down here real quick.

Okay, so moving on. Daniel, I already talked about Daniel, he had an understanding of dreams and interpretations of dreams, and that was part of the spirit of understanding working in his life. Then in 2 Chronicles 26, 5. Going kind of fast. I know I want to get to all of these examples on this episode today. What did I say? 2 Chronicles 26, 5. All right. It says, um, it's talking about King Uzziah. Let me just read all the way from 1 to 5, that way you understand the context. Now all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was 16 years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah. He built Elath and restored it to Judah. After the king rested with his fathers, Uzziah was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Jechaliah of Jerusalem, and he did what was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father Amaziah had done. He sought God in the days of Zechariah, Zechariah was the priest, who had understanding in the visions of God. As long as he sought the Lord, God made him prosper. So the way that Zechariah, let's see, Zechariah 26, 5. So the way that he sought the Lord in the days of Zechariah, Zechariah is like a picture here of the Holy Spirit because Zechariah would read the scrolls of uh of the the word of the Lord at the time they didn't have the Bible, of course, but they had scrolls that had the Torah and the prophets and the different things that had been written up to that point that were um part of their culture that they would memorize, that they would read, that they would look at. So they had those scrolls, and Zechariah would read of the scrolls to Uzziah. And as long as Uzziah um, I mean, sorry, Zechariah had understanding of the visions of God, and as long as he was advising Uzziah, Uzziah was listening to him, he was he ruled well, he was a good king, he sought the Lord and and he was a good king, and it went well for Israel while he was doing that. So that's another example of that. And then the last scripture I want to look at today is Luke 24. We're gonna go to the New Testament and look at this last verse here. Luke 24, 25. And of course, this is Jesus talking. It says, then he said to them, wait a minute.

I got the wrong I have the wrong reference here. I'm gonna give you the right reference.

Twenty-four forty-five. Okay. Typo there. Messed me up. Okay, so it says in let's read forty-four. It says, Then he said to them, These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses and the prophets and the Psalms concerning me. And he opened their understanding that they might comprehend the scriptures. So Jesus gave the Jesus gave the disciples the ability to understand what was written about him, what was what was prophesied about him all throughout the Word of God and all throughout history. And Jesus opened up their minds to receive understanding. That's the same word, understanding, of course, it's in Greek, but it's it's relates back to the word, the Hebrew word that is in Isaiah 11, and that we've been talking about today for understanding, discernment, comprehension, and interpretation. So this is such a vital and important um revelation to get because we want to walk in wisdom and we want to have discernment. We want to have understanding, we want to comprehend what's going on, we want to know the times that we're living in. We want to know, you know, what's going on even in situations, because that's, you know, the Holy Spirit gives us wisdom. He gives us knowledge and understanding, he gives us discernment. And, you know, I'm not even talking about the spirit of discernment, which is one of the gifts of the spirit, but that, you know, in that is another whole nother level of that. But even in just our everyday lives, the Holy Spirit brings understanding to us. He brings discernment to us, he brings comprehension and the ability to interpret what's really going on, what's really happening below the surface, below the visible, below, he helps us to understand and have discernment of and comprehension of, and um understanding of what's going on under the surface, what's going on in the spirit, what's going on behind what's visible, what's going on in the unseen realm. Because everything in the seen realm is caused by something in the spirit realm, whether good or bad, everything roots back to the spirit realm. Everything comes out of the spirit realm. And I um can't remember the lady who wrote the book, but I read a book several years ago, and she talked about the causal realm. The spirit realm is the causal realm, it's the realm that causes what we see in the natural. So in the natural, we might be seeing something go on, but there is a reason why that's going on, and there's a cause, and it's always a spiritual thing. It's always something that's going on in the spirit, whether it's the spirit, your spirit or somebody else's spirit, or just, you know, the spirits that are in operation around us, you know. Um, so we want to have that discernment. We want to have the ability to discern. We want to operate in it. We we have access to it, we have the Holy Spirit. So we have it, but we want to operate in it. We want to have the revelation to live by that spirit of understanding, that spirit of discernment, of comprehension, of intelligent insight. You know, it's kind of like having a spy on the inside because the Holy Spirit can tell you exactly what's going on, exactly what you need to know. And you can have, you know, you can have knowledge that you wouldn't otherwise have. The Holy Spirit will give you knowledge as you need it that you wouldn't have otherwise. You know, the um, I'm trying to remember if it was Elisha or Elijah. I believe it was Elisha. He knew what was happening in the king's palace in the other country that was attacking Israel. He knew what was going on because the Holy Spirit showed him. The Holy Spirit gave him that insight, that intelligent insight. So he had intelligence, like governmental intelligence, that he was able to pass on to the people in charge, the king and in the armies or whatever of Israel, so that they would know what was going to happen and could conquer and uh, you know, escape the plots of the king that was coming against them and against his their armies, and they could survive. So that's just another example of the Holy Spirit giving intelligent insight. He gives us everything that we need, and he will give us more and more wisdom, knowledge, and understanding as we seek him and as we look to him and as we get to know him more and more and do life together with him. So that's why we're talking about this on the show right now, and that's why we're taking our time and we're not hurrying. Uh, the other day I was like, man, I'm taking a long time on this uh subject, but you know what? It's needed, and there's no reason to rush it. There's no reason to hurry because the more that we know the Holy Spirit and know about him, and the more we're going to live successful and wonderful lives, the more we're gonna have intelligence and the more we're gonna have discernment, the more we're gonna have understanding and insight into things that we Otherwise, aren't going to have insight into. So we're going to just keep talking about it. However long it takes us is how long it will take. And I hope you guys are enjoying it. And I hope you'll come back next week to hear the next part. I think we'll go ahead and move on to the next one the spirit of counsel or wise strategy next week. So join me next Tuesday. I'll see you then. Have a great day.
